Time to Potty!

Bryce decided to give me a Mother's Day gift a day late...he peed in the potty today!!!! Earlier this morning, he had a dirty diaper and asked to sit on the potty when I was changing him. He sat and sat, but couldn't go. I gave him his "Potty Caddy" which has a roll of toilet paper and some baby magazines to entertain him while he tries to use the potty. It also has a potty chart that he gets to put stickers on (a small one for trying and a big one for going.) Before lunchtime, Bryce told me he wanted to try to go on the potty again(I think he just wants to play with the toilet paper). And again, he sat and sat without any luck. He got up and put his potty away and then turned to me and said, "I need go pee-pee." I told him to grab his potty and sit on it, which he did, but in his excitement he forgot to aim his penis down and therefore peed all over his feet and floor, as well as the potty! It was so funny to see the look of surprise on his face as all of this was going on! That was the only success of the day, but I look forward to more of this and less of diapers!

Patio Apprentice

Happy Mother's Day and Day 2 of patio work! Bryce was once again quite willing to help whether we wanted it or not...
As you can see, the patio is coming along very nicely!

Child Labor

Jeremy made good progress on the patio this evening thanks to (or perhaps in spite of) Bryce's help! In addition to emptying water, Bryce also carried bricks and moved sand.

Picnic Lunch

Bryce enjoyed a picnic lunch of apples, cheese and crackers on our front stoop today. When I first asked him what he wanted for lunch, he said, "No, thank you." But when I offered that he could eat outside, he suddenly had an appetite!

Train Time

Bryce woke up from his nap in a really good mood (which was nice change from his mood this morning!) and wanted to play trains with me. I helped him build a fancy track and he drove his train back and forth on the one straight boring part of the track the entire time. I tried to entice him to go over the hills and bridges, but he refused. Nevertheless, he had a great time looking for the train in the tunnel and then making sure the train was careful because it was very windy outside of the tunnel.

Learning to Nap

Audrey and I received instructions this morning on naptime. Unfortunately, it was only about pretend naptime! I tried to convince Bryce to close his eyes for real, but he was not interested in my idea.

On another note, Bryce had a doctor's appointment today to check out a potential urinary tract issue. He is okay and is now on antibiotics for a week to help clear things up. The best part was how cooperative Bryce was at the doctor's office. He didn't fuss at all during any part of the exam. The doctor was really impressed, too...and surprised that he didn't try to kick her! When the exam was over, I told him he could get dressed and we could leave. He very excitedly said, "We go look at fish and go on elevator, now!" (They have fish in the lobby.) I think he was so focused on those two things that he didn't even notice the exam!

Oh, Brother...

Bryce avoided the flash of the camera today, but certainly found the naughty spot several times! In classic toddler form, I picked him up to change his diaper and he flipped out. He kicked me, so I put him in the naughty spot. He then tried to bite me, run away and essentially disregard the naughty spot. I called Jeremy to take over and he was able to get Bryce to stay for 2 minutes to "reflect" on his behavior. After his time was up, he came over to me to apologize and then said, "Mommy, let's go change my diaper. I like having my diaper changed!"

I sometimes feel that I must be living parallel lives...
