Budding Artist

Bryce was in full 'story-telling' mode while he worked on his drawings this afternoon. This one is of an elephant, which I think looks a lot like an elephant (in a modern kind of way)!

Such focus and determination!

Playdates Are Tiring!

We met up with some old friends at the park today for a toddler playdate. Everyone had a great time - particularly Bryce. We even made some new friends who hopefully will be joining our next playdate! Bryce (and his friends) played with bubbles, a kite (despite the lack of wind), strollers, balls, frisbee, etc. It was an action packed morning.

Then, on our way home, we scored a free double stroller! The ride must be pretty smooth because both Bryce and Audrey passed out!
Oh, and I took pity on Bryce and reclined his seat after this picture. His head was lolling all over the place!

Chile Pepper Festival

Bryce and Puddy started the morning off right... by sharing blueberry pancakes!
Later in the afternoon, we headed to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens for their Chile Pepper Festival. There was a whole section of the festival dedicated to "hot" chocolate. There were multiple tents of folks giving out chocolate samples. Some of the chocolate was very spicy and others were mild. Bryce LOVED it!

I really should have left the chocolate on his face as we walked around... but even without the mess, Bryce smelled like chocolate for the rest of the day!
The weather had been cloudy all morning and unfortunately decided to let the rain pour down the entire time we were at the festival. Bryce wasn't too bothered by it until he got cold at the end. Until then, Bryce splashed in the puddles and played with the umbrella.

Bryce also got to see a heron (at least that what I think it is) at the Japanese Gardens. We kept hoping the rain would stop so that we could see the heron move around. Alas, the rain continued and the heron stayed dry under its umbrella tree.

Stickerpalooza

Bryce had an exciting discovery this morning... a neighbor had put a piece of junk mail full of stickers under our door! Bryce happily went about putting all of the stickers all over his legs and then walked around all stiff-legged for the next 15 minutes.
Quote of the Day:
I was trying to explain to Bryce about earning a treat versus just being given a treat. I offered a cookie to him if he could clean up all of his toys really fast. He didn't do it, so I commented that he must not want a cookie. He said he did want the cookie, but he didn't want to clean up. Thus, me introducing the concept of earning. Bryce then said, "I can't clean up. I do want a cookie. I am an urn."

Sink Play

I asked Bryce to wash his hands before coming to help me make dinner tonight. After about 20 minutes, I came in the bathroom to check on him and found him happily playing. Of course, he had also soaked the floor, the litter box, the wall, etc!

Metro Kid

Bryce is such a big kid! Today, when we went down to the subway, he walked and stood on the platform all by himself. Bryce knew not to stand on the yellow line (and commented on anyone who he saw break that rule!) Bryce also climbed in and sat in the seat on the train by himself.

You Can Almost See It...

You can almost see that these two are going to be the best of friends when the grow up (well, at least after they stop beating on each other)!
